Klaus Hommels founded and is chairman of Zurich-based private equity firm Lakestar in 2012. Lakestar was the first European VC to launch a SPAC with HomeToGo on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (which dropped from $1. billion at the end of 2021 to around $300 million in November). Klaus Hommels made early investments in Facebook, Airbnb, Zoom, Coinbase, card reader company SumUp and digital giant Revolut ($33 billion), as well as European-born companies Skype and Spotify. European technology champion Hommels is the chairman of the NATO Innovation Fund and a member of the Innovation Council of the Munich Security Conference.
