Cold chain management in poultry supply is of utmost importance for preserving the quality and safety of meat/poultry products. Meat, especially fresh chicken, is a highly perishable product with a short shelf life and, therefore, short selling times. Raw chicken is likely to attract the growth of pathogenic microorganisms and spoilage bacteria and should be kept at adequate temperature zones and transported by insulated reefer bodies/trailers which meet international standards and do not result in penetrating heat transfer.
