The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has been running a Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) since 2000. The FMCS provides foreign manufacturers with a unique serial number that can be used on their goods after a computerization from the Bureau of Indian Standards. The FMCS is applicable to all non-regulated goods that are not disclosed to the end user, except electronics goods. The Foreign Manufacturers Certification Department(FMCD) grants the license to the FMCS Agent Located at the capital of India. When The location of the product conforms to Indian standards, it is marked with the Standard Mark.
